This weekend, I performed the 30,000 mile (late) service on my 2.5RS. I used this as an opportunity to clean the Amsoil air filter, and clean underneath the airbox. With the entire air intake system out of the car, it is much easier to proceed with the service.

Changing the spark plugs was pretty easy, the toughest part was removing the spark plug wire boot off the plug. I replaced the worn champion plugs with NGK plugs.

I also filled the transmission with Amsoil synthetic fluid, flushed the brake fluid completely, and flushed the cooling system. I also greased where the clutch master cylinder connected to the release arm, as it was making some funky noises as if it was dry. It quieted down immediately.

On Sunday, I built some simple little jigs that will help me do a quick toe-setting, either in the garage or at a race. These little jigs simply press against the tire on each side, creating parallel reference points for measuring. My front toe was set to 1/8-inch out, which is what I wanted. My rear toe however - stock from the factory - was set with 3/16-inch in.

Getting the securing nuts on the backside of the lower control arm mounting bolts loose was a huge task, as they were stubborn. Once free, I marked the stock locations on the toe adjuster, and then made small incremental changes, eventually settling with zero toe. I also marked two more locations, to provide 1/8-inch and 1/4-inch toe-out, to make quick on-track adjustments easier.
